streetorigin.com
By Parker Langlois | Personal Project | August 2018 - Present
streetorigin.com is a stable, functioning prototype for a simple idea. The goal of this platform is to display the etymology of streets with a simple click-through interaction. The data is curated from municipal archives to be as relevant and accurate as possible. Beyond simply telling a unique story, streetorigin.com also provides analytic data which displays further information about regional influences.
At the current moment there is only supported data for 3 lower Vancouver Island districts: Esquimalt, Victoria and Oak Bay.

Funding/Revenue
Sponsoring streets from local businesses would help provide funding to the project:
“Yates Street brought to you by Yates Street Taphouse”
Other avenues include selling art or gifting art in return for donations for funding to get this off the ground (left).
